I had Merina, stopped my periods, and my Hgb went from 8 to 12 in 3 months. I did, however, have side effects like hair loss, hot flushes & mood swings. My gynecologist took it out, and then I had a hysterectomy. Some people have them for years with no side effects; others do have. How old are you? I had a partial vaginal hysterectomy. Very little pain after surgery and was driving again ten days later.

I'm 35, and I'm done having children. I'm worried about the side effects because I've never had good luck with any form of birth control I tried in the past. My doctor told me that if I don't like the IUD or have side effects, I'll have to go to gyno and see what they say.

For me, it was not painful having it out in or even after the procedure.

I've had the Mirena for three months, and a total of five infusions and my Hgb is now an 18. I haven't had any side effects, just waiting for my periods to completely stop.

I got the Mirena coil, and it stopped my periods, and I wasn't anywhere near as bad with my anemia. It did make my mental health conditions a lot worse, unfortunately.

I had Mirena for eight months and bled the whole time, now waiting to have a hysterectomy at the end of this month.

My doctor wants me to try an IUD. My mum had massive problems with hers; it has put me off.

I had it for eight months, and not only did I bleed for eight months, but it affected me mentally as well, was like spaced out, and felt like I was walking around in a daze.

Oh, it sounds awful! My mum hemorrhaged when she had one. I'm waiting for a gyno appointment to see what's going on. I've had a scan of my uterus and ovaries, which showed no issues, but my periods are horrendous.

I did. It was a painful experience, and it made me crazy. I had to get it removed asap due to the mental issues it brought about. It was so nutty! But others love it. If you have any underlying depression, anxiety, etc. or any other mental diagnosis – I wouldn't suggest trying it honestly.
