Can anyone suggest any products or supplements to help with fine and thinning hair for a person with PCOS? I’m already on 100mg Spironolactone and use Nioxin shampoo.
Rogaine is the only product proven to stop hair loss and possibly regrow hair. Honestly, the sooner you start, the better; once the hair follicle is dead, that's it. I waited far too long to start rogaine. I wish I started it 10 years ago.
My dermatologist prescribed me oral Minoxidil 1mg/day, which is the active ingredient in topical rogaine. Hairs are definitely less shedding but not sure if it's from Minoxidil or Spiro. I have taken months to get to this stage!
I was on Spironolactone but stopped because I started having some health issues 3 months after starting. Thyroid issues, hemochromatosis (too much iron in my blood), and both of those also cause hair loss.
The Spironolactone was working too, I wasn’t losing any hair, and now that I stopped, I am shedding hairs again. I also have gallbladder issues now, so I don’t want to take any meds that could make anything worse.
There is a book called stop the thyroid madness that really helped me. I took it to my doctor and told her what I wanted to do, and she was happy to help. Some are not as willing I've heard. Good luck!

I looked into this, but it's sort of a last resort. I'm afraid of it giving me more facial hair because of it rubbing on my pillow.

Have you had your thyroid checked? Mine got better after I got my thyroid under control.
I think it was checked years ago. I'll have them check again.
