I was told I had IBS, but now they want me to eat gluten again so they can test me for celiac. I was just wondering how many others with fibromyalgia has this?
I had it when I was little and gradually went on a balanced diet as I was advised by the doctor. A month ago, in the hospital, I found out it came back and ever since I'm having terrible pains and trouble eating, celiac never goes & stays in your blood.
Oh no… I'm struggling at the min was doing fodmap and been as careful as possible. The bloating had gone, but the stomach pain was always there and just couldn't go to the toilet maybe once a week if lucky.
There is a blood test to check for celiac with a follow up of an intestinal biopsy. Why would they want to stress your body by getting you to eat something you know makes you sick?
Because if not been eating gluten for a few weeks they said it would show up negative if I had the blood test. So they want me to eat it again for 3 weeks then go for the test – can't see me lasting that long though.
Celiac, as my doctors says, is a bugger. He's so funny. I, for instance, was positive for Celiac by biopsy and negative by the blood test. His daughter was the exact opposite. Just my opinion but if the blood test is negative, demand an endoscopy.
I have celiac, diagnosed 5 years ago. Actually just diagnosed with fibro today, but have suffered from symptoms for over 10 years. My fibro symptoms definitely get way worse when I'm accidentally glutened. My fibro symptoms aren't quite as severe since I went gluten-free, but it's still a daily struggle. My doctor said the fibro and chronic fatigue are probably caused by my many years of undiagnosed celiac. A lot of symptoms and issues go hand in hand with celiac.
A friend of mine does. Once she cut the gluten, it got better for her, and she lost 10 lbs which was a big deal to her too. I hope that you're feeling better.
I've lost 2 stones since March which I didn't think was a problem as I'd cut out all the rubbish I ate. He just wants further tests because I'm still getting the belly ache and pain.

They're fast-tracking me for a colonoscopy and have to eat gluten again to test for celiac but just eaten and sandwich and the pains awful.
I had the blood test for celiac, and it came back negative. My doc says it's IBS. It sucks. You could have non-celiac gluten intolerance.
