How to Keep High Energy Levels With Growing Age Crossing 50?

Has anybody got suggestions on how to get more energy? I am 57 years old, and I have gained weight with a thyroid condition. I am trying to lose weight, but I have no energy.

I am also going through the change of life, and I do not want to take hormone tablets. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    People should be looking into Turmeric and black pepper more for all ailments. Turmeric for gut healing and turmeric with pepper for other bodily inflammation. How to take it? Here's a method:

    I add to food when I can, but use this drink quite often:

    • 2 cups of coconut milk
    • 1tbsp coconut oil
    • 1-inch piece of sliced ginger/ 1 teaspoon ginger powder
    • 1 teaspoon turmeric
    • 1 tablespoon organic honey
    • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

    Method of preparation:

    In a bowl, mix the ingredients, except for the honey. Mix them well, transfer the mixture to a saucepan, and place it over low heat. Cook it for 5 minutes, and add the honey at the end.

    This delicious and healthy drink is easy to prepare, and it soothes the stomach, enhances digestion, prevents acid reflux, helps you sleep, and aids in weight loss

        I make a bedtime energy drink for my husband and myself: Herre's the recipe of it:

        • 2 cups of coconut milk (buy it at COSTCO for better prices) 
        • 1 Tablespoon of turmeric paste (1/4 cup of turmeric powder simmered in 1/2 cup of water for 10 min and kept in the refrigerator),
        • 1/2-1 inch of ginger root
        • 6-8 black peppercorns
        • a dash of cinnamon
        • 1 Tablespoon of coconut oil.

        All is brought up to boiling, heat reduced, and simmer under a lid for 20 min. The recipe calls for a pinch of stevia. We drink without any sweeteners.

          @Emely, I heard you are not supposed to boil any herbs or honey mixes; it kills off any good stuff. I always just low heat these mixes for 15 to 20 minutes.

            Turmeric is a root. It needs to be simmered to extract properties. Teas are made from herbs (green parts) by pouring boiling water over them. Decoctions are made with roots by simmering them. I would not put raw honey in any hot liquids at all to keep its medicinal properties.

    Whenever I feel a slump, I take a shot of RAW ACV. Also, I've learned that too many processed foods are causing my immune system to attack my thyroid gland and cause it to work less. Lastly, I know it sounds weird, but INCREASE your intake of healthy fats like real butter, coconut oil, especially early in the morning has helped me lose 25 lbs. Nuts are your best friend.

    I take a D3 supplement, and it has really made a difference, especially in the wintertime, when you're not getting as much sunshine. I also take turmeric, but I use fresh and cut a small slice, with a small slice of ginger and a squeeze of lemon in hot water. Just keep in mind with the turmeric, you have to consume it with either pepper or ginger for it to work correctly.

    I am your age and also suffer from the same thing. The two things that have helped me GREATLY are Healthy Habits, vitamin B12 patches, and Natural Sources Raw Thyroid Capsules.

    The patch you wear behind your ear, and I put one on about every 3-4 days when I first started and then every 5th day once I started feeling better.

    The raw thyroid capsules, take one in the morning and one before bed. Between the 2 of these, I now have enough energy to get up in the morning, and I don't need to take a nap.

    I've tried many things, including some of what has been recommended, but these are the only things that helped me. Good luck and I hope you give them a try.

    With the patches, you will notice a difference in a few days to a week. It will just keep getting better. The raw thyroid will help get your thyroid working correctly.
